The Auburn University School of Nursing and the Auburn Montgomery School of Nursing will be “Reelin’ in the Years” for the 16th annual Blue Jean Ball on Friday, Oct. 21.
Festivities at Coach Pat Dye’s Crooked Oaks Hunting Lodge in Notasulga begin at 5 p.m., with music by Jay Hughes, as well as Utopia Band. Students will be serving Conecuh sausage and the silent auction will open for bidding. Haflinger-drawn wagon rides, mule-drawn wagon rides and tours of Dye’s home and the hunting lodge will be available. A children’s area will feature face painting, a “go-fish” booth and Farmer Brown’s Petting Zoo. Miller and Choa, the dogs from the Auburn nursing program CAREing Paws, will be on hand, as well as artist Barbara Davis.
Curtiss the Warhawk, Auburn Montgomery’s mascot, and a fishing demonstration will be available starting at 6 p.m.
Dinner from Moe’s BBQ and the Organized Seafood Association will be served from 6-8 p.m.
Birds of prey from the Southeastern Raptor Center in the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine will be present from 6:30-7:30 p.m.
The silent auction will conclude at 7:30 p.m. and the live auction, emceed by Dye and Auburn basketball Coach Bruce Pearl will commence at 8 p.m.
Utopia Band will provide the last set of the evening at 9:30 p.m.
Proceeds from the Blue Jean Ball continue to benefit nursing faculty, programs and scholarships for current students on both campuses. Nearly 500 scholarships have been awarded through the years.
