Fort Mitchell, a national historic landmark, is having its annual Pioneer Day and Quilt Show on Saturday, April 18th, 2020, from 9 AM to 3 PM eastern time. The Fort is located at 561 Highway 165 in Fort Mitchell, AL, 36856, next to Fort Mitchell National Cemetery. Admission is $5 for adults, children 10 and under admitted free. $20 maximum fee per family. The site includes an original circa 1840 log cabin home, the Visitors Center including a museum and theater, the Indian Heritage Center and Memorial, the Carriage House, the reconstructed 1813 stockade Fort, a reconstructed Trading Post, and a historic cemetery. Attractions include a quilt show and contest, blacksmith demonstrations, The Lower Muskogee Creek Tribe, live bluegrass and country music, food vendors, craft vendors and craft demonstrations, sweet shop treats, souvenirs, horse drawn wagon rides, reenactors dressed from the time of the Creek Indian Wars, and pioneer crafts for children.
