Domestic violence can happen to ANY person regardless of age, culture, religion, education, social class, sex or physical ability. In recognition of October’s National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, AshaKiran invites you to create artwork or write an essay for this year’s theme: ‘Why Culture Sensitivity Matters’

We hope this contest will encourage students to strive to value and respect all people regardless of their skin color, their physical abilities or the language that they speak.

Parents can sign up their child to participate here:

• Students 10 – 18 years old can participate in one or both the art & essay contests.
• Essay must be submitted in English, type-written in black ink & double-spaced.
No more than 500 words. Any essay found to be plagiarized will be disqualified.
• Artwork must include a brief explanation of the message depicted in it regarding ‘why culture sensitivity matters.’ All mediums accepted & must be student’s original work. Copyright entries will be disqualified.
• All work submissions must include participants full name, age & be submitted to: OR Mailed to P. O. Box 1021 Huntsville, AL 35807

CONTEST WINNERS will be announced & receive 2017 AshaKiran Youth Art & Essay Contest Awards at the AshaKiran State-Wide Human Chain Event Against Domestic Violence taking place on Sunday, October 1, 2017 in Dublin Park in Madison, AL @ 2PM – All accepted entries will also be on display!
