Big Fish Bites Cancer! is a one-day event taking place on October 29, 2016 at Jackson Lake Island in Millbrook, Alabama. This event will feature a Paddle Run and free kayak lessons for kids by Alabama Paddlers (Autauga Creek Chapter.) The afternoon will also include food and music by JoyRide of Prattville, Alabama. You can get registration details on our Facebook Event page.
Paddle Run participants will kayak to five different stations, receiving a playing card at each; the contestant with the best hand at the end will win first place prize of $1000. Throughout the day there will be raffle drawings for prizes donated by sponsors.
The Chicken Salad Chick Foundation Inc. was created in May of 2014. The Foundation’s mission is to eliminate cancer as a major health problem, by supporting local cancer centers, as well as research in the field, and to provide food for hungry people through support of local food banks. Based in Auburn, Alabama, the company’s founders were directly impacted by cancer. The commitment they made to finding a cure and setting a positive example across their organization made me want to contribute in whatever way I can to support their mission. By hosting an outdoor kayaking event, we hope to reach out to people in Millbrook, Prattville, Montgomery, Wetumpka and other surrounding communities to come together in this great outdoor venue and raise money and hope!
