On Saturday, April 30 through Sunday, May 1, 2016, more than 100 of Alabama’s top makers will come together at the Union Station Train Shed in Downtown Montgomery, Ala., for the fourth annual Southern Makers event. Southern Makers is a two-day event that celebrates Southern creativity and innovation by bringing together handpicked talent for one fantastic gathering. More than 2,000 event-goers will “walk the state” and shop handcrafted goods, sample tastings made by distinguished chefs using locally-sourced ingredients, listen to live music and participate in hands-on demonstrations and interactive workshops. This highly-curated platform provides a venue for skilled and accomplished makers to connect, while also allowing adventurers from near and far to experience a cross section of Alabama’s finest. Rich with history in textiles, agriculture, food, literature, art and design, Southern Makers is an educational and authentic experience where guests interact with the makers and designers firsthand, gaining a better understanding and a deeper appreciation for their craft.
Southern Makers is created and curated by architecture and engineering firm Goodwyn, Mills and Cawood, Inc.,and architectural salvage business Southern Accents Architectural Antiques. All additional event proceeds benefit EAT South nonprofit organization. Other key players helping put on this year’s event are ElsaJa, Revelator Coffee Company, and Cotton and Pine.
