Step back in time on site of Alabama’s first sawmill as Stockton celebrates its history and heritage as a sawmill town. Draft animals pulling logs; professional lumberjacks demonstrating log-rolling, pole-climbing, crosscut sawing, & boom-walking, lumberjack sport camp where pros teach young & old art of log rolling & crosscut sawing; living history demonstrations – basket making, spinning, weaving, horseshoeing, blacksmithing, syrup making, gristmill, Indian and civil war camps, cooking in cast iron pots with Johnny Nix, piney wood oxen and sheep plus much more. Churn butter, shell corn, feed chickens, hunt for treasure in sawdust pile. Juried “folk art”. Live music. Buck dancing contest. “Hayride History Tour” of park compliments of Bald. Co. Archives.
