Ingredients
  • 3 cups shredded Gruyere cheese
  • 1/4 teaspoon egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups INGREDIENTS:
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 6 eggs
  • 1 cup jam (any kind, but preferably homemade blackberry with the seeds in and nothing used but sugar and berries to make the jam)
  • 1 teaspoon butter
  • 5 1/2 ounces carton CoolWhip

Instructions
  1. Sift flour first for measuring your 3 cups
  2. Then sift again with salt and baking soda
  3. Cream sugar and shortening
  4. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition
  5. Add half of buttermilk and half of flour mixture and blend well
  6. Add vanilla and blend
  7. Pour 1/2 of batter in a greased and floured tube pan
  8. Blend the chocolate syrup into the other half of batter
  9. Pour this over first half in pan
  10. Swirl into bottom bater to marble
  11. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour and 10 minutes or until tested done
