Instructions
  1. Cover potatoes with water, about 1 1/2 inches over potatoes, in a large pot
  2. Add 1 teaspoon salt
  3. Cook on medium high heat
  4. While the potatoes are cooking, melt the margarine in a large skillet
  5. Sauté onions in margarine until soft
  6. Add the flour and stir until smooth
  7. Add 1/2 teaspoon of salt and the milk
  8. Stir until thickened then set aside
  9. When potatoes are done, mash them to desired consistency in the pot with the water
  10. Add the onion sauce to the pot
  11. Stir until smooth
  12. Cook about 10 minutes or to desired thickness
  13. You can add extra milk to thin the soup
