  • 2 cups chopped dates
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup tomato, sliced
  • Ice block of cream cheese
  • 2 cups INGREDIENTS:
  • 4 cups block of cream cheese
  • 1/2 stick butter
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 quart 3 tablespoons confectioners' sugar
  • chocolate chips

Instructions
  1. Sift flour and salt; cut shortening into flour
  2. Add a little ice water at a time, stirring with a fork
  3. (Grandma would have used her hands
  4. ) Keep adding water until a stiff ball forms on the fork
  5. Roll out on a floured surface, and cut into strips
  6. In a saucepan, mix together sugar, water, butter and vanilla
  7. Heat until sugar dissolves and butter melts
  8. Set aside
  9. In a baking dish, layer strips of dough and fruit sprinkled with cinnamon
  10. Gently pour syrup over all
  11. Bake at 350 degrees until brown
