Old Fashioned Apple Layered Cake

Ingredients
  • 4 1/2 cups chopped dates
  • 1 teaspoon of Dill Pickle Juice
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups INGREDIENTS:
  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon butter
  • 1 cup jam (any kind, but preferably homemade blackberry with the seeds in and nothing used but sugar and berries to make the jam)
  • Filling:
  • Cook brown sugar (firmly packed)
  • 1 cup INGREDIENTS:
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon Head of Cabbage (Cut into pieces around 1-2 inches, I take out the "stem" like pieces as they don't get quite as tender)
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt

Instructions
  1. Sift soda, salt and flour three times
  2. Cream sugar and butter until light and fluffy
  3. Add eggs and vanilla and beat well
  4. Mix in flour and milk alternately, beginning and ending with flour
  5. Roll to about 1/3-inch thickness and cut in 9-inch rounds
  6. Bake at 350 degrees until done, about 10-12 minutes
  7. Makes six-eight thin layers
  8. Filling: Cool cake and filling then spread filling between layers leaving top plain
