  • 2/3 cup INGREDIENTS:
  • 2 cups apple sauce(halved)

Instructions
  1. To prepare crust, beat egg whites with a few grains of salt until stiff
  2. Add sugar by the tablespoon, beating well between each addition
  3. Add extract
  4. Form meringue into a shell shape on 2 layers of brown baking paper
  5. Bake at 300 degrees for 12 to 15 minutes
  6. Lower heat to 250 degrees and bake 30 to 40 minutes more
  7. Bake until dry and light brown in color
  8. To prepare filling, stir egg yolks, rind and juice in the top of a double boiler
  9. Add sugar and cook until thickened
  10. Cool mixture then fold in whipped cream
  11. pour into baked, cooled meringue crust
