Maggie's Sour Cream and Potato Soup

1/4 pound bacon, diced
1 medium onion, diced
2 stalks celery, diced
2 tablespoons flour
3 cups water
2 cups chicken broth
4 large potatoes, cubed
1 1/2 cups sour cream
Salt and pepper
Cook bacon pieces in heavy soup pot until they start to brown. Add onion and celery and cook until just soft. Sprinkle in flour and cook for 3 more minutes. Add water, broth and potatoes. Slowly bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer until the potatoes are soft. Ladle 3 cups of soup broth into separate bowl. Whisk sour cream into broth until blended, then whisk back into pot. Heat for 3 minutes longer. Add seasonings to taste. Serve warm with fresh-baked cornbread or crackers.
