Candied Sweet Potatoes & Cranberries

6 medium sweet potatoes or yams
1/2 cup oleo
3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
2 cups raw cranberries (fresh or frozen)
Wash and cut up unpeeled potatoes and boil in water until tender. Peel and place in a two-quart casserole dish. Melt oleo in boiler, add brown sugar and cranberries. Boil until berries pop, stirring constantly. Pour over potatoes and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until bubbly.
