Chocolate Popcorn Balls

1 cup water
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup corn syrup
3 tablespoons butter or oleo
1 1/2 ounces semisweet chocolate
1 1/2 quarts popped corn
Combine sugar, water and corn syrup in saucepan. Cook, stirring five minutes until sugar has dissolved. Stir in butter and chocolate and cook without stirring until candy thermometer registers around 230 degrees or mixture reaches soft boil stage on thermometer. Place popped corn in a large bowl. Add chocolate mixture, mixing well to coat popcorn. Wet hands and shape into balls, and press firmly to make balls stick together. Makes eight balls.
