1 pound ground beef
1 large onion, chopped
1 can tomato soup
1 green pepper, chopped
1 small can whole kernel corn, drained
1 small can english peas
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper
Cornbread topping:
1/4 cup self-rising cornmeal
1 tablespoon sugar
1 cup buttermilk
2 tablespoons flour
1 egg
Brown ground beef and onion. Add soup, 1/2 can water, green pepper, corn, peas, chili powder, salt and pepper. Simmer for 15 minutes. Pour into a well-greased casserole dish. Mix topping ingredients. Pour on top of casserole. Bake at 350 to 400 degrees for 30 minutes or until cornbread is done.
