Ingredients
3/4 cup egg yolks (about 10)
1 whole egg
1 3/4 cups sugar
1 cup boiling water
1/2 teaspoon lemon flavoring
1 tablespoon grated orange rind
1 tablespoon strained orange juice
2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
Directions
Beat egg yolks with a rotary beater until they are thick and lemon colored (5 minutes). Beat whole egg with yolks 10 minutes while gradually adding sugar. Beat in part of the water, flavoring, rind, juice and remaining water. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Add this to batter and blend well. Pour into a greased and floured 10-inch tube pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 65 minutes or until tested done.
