Ingredients
1 cup butter flavored Crisco
3 cups sugar
5 eggs
1 cup buttermilk
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
3 cups plain flour
2 or 3 teaspoons almond flavoring
Directions
Cream shortening and sugar well. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Combine buttermilk and baking soda in a separate bowl. Alternately add flour and buttermilk mixture to creamed mixture, ending with flour. Fold in flavoring. Pour batter into a prepared tube pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 1/4 hours.
