2 cups self-rising corn meal mix
1 1/4 to 1 1/2 cups milk or buttermilk
1/4 cup cooking oil
1 egg
1 tablespoon sugar (optional)
Heat oil in a small skillet. Mix and blend all other ingredients in a bowl. Mix and pour evenly over beef mixture and corn. Bake for 20-25 minutes at 425 degrees, or until it tests done. Remove from oven and let stand 5 minutes then invert onto a hot serving platter.
