Hot Fudge Cake

1 cup self-rising flour
8 tablespoons cocoa
1 1/2 cups sugar, divided
2 tablespoons margarine
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup milk
1 2/3 cups boiling water
In a medium bowl sift flour with three tablespoons cocoa. Mix in three-fourths cup sugar and butter; pour in milk and mix well. Add vanilla, mix and set aside. In an 8-inch pan or casserole dish, mix remaining three-fourths cup sugar, five tablespoons cocoa and boiling water. Spoon batter into syrup mixture. Do not stir. Bake 40 minutes at 350 degrees. Serve hot with ice cream or Cool Whip, spooning the sauce over the cake.
