Tomato, Onion, Cheese Casserole

3 Vidalia onions, sliced
6 ripe tomatoes, sliced
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1 cup bread crumbs, divided
1 cup sour cream
1 egg
1 cup milk
Microwave onions on medium for five minutes to soften. Layer onions, tomatoes, 3/4 cup bread crumbs and cheese in a casserole dish. Mix egg, milk and sour cream and pour over casserole. Top with remaining 1/4 cup bread crumbs. Bake uncovered at 325 degrees for 45 minutes.
