Hasty Pudding Biscuits

4 cups thick Hasty Pudding (recipe above)
1 compressed yeast cake dissolved in 1/2 cup lukewarm water*
1 egg, well beaten
1 tablespoon melted shortening
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ginger
1/2 cup molasses
4 to 5 cups flour
Make the Hasty Pudding (recipe above) and when lukewarm, add the dissolved yeast cake and mix well. Then add the egg, shortening, spices, and molasses. Add enough sifted flour to make a stiff dough. Knead well. Let rise overnight. Shape into biscuits, let rise until light and bake in a hot oven (400 degrees) about 20 minutes.
