Ingredients
3 cups self-rising flour
1 1/4 cups sugar
1 cup shortening
3 eggs
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
About 1/4-cup milk
Directions
sift dry ingredients together, add shortening and mix with fork. Add eggs and vanilla, mixing with fork also. Mixture will be very thick so add milk a little at a time, up to 1/4-cup , until mixture is workable. Roll thin on a floured surface. Cut into desired shapes. Bake at 350 degrees for about eight minutes. Makes about four dozen.
Icing:
While cookies cool, make icing by mixing one box of confectioner's sugar with just enough hot water to make a creamy icing. Add a few drops of food coloring to make them more festive. Ice cookies and let icing set before storing.
