Ingredients
To each quart of chopped pears, use:
3 cups sugar
Juice of 1/2 orange (then slice the rind and use it)
1/2 cup undrained crushed pineapple
1/2 cup fresh frozen coconut (shredded can be used instead)
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
Directions
Pare, core, chop and measure hard-ripe pears. Boil 20 minutes in two cups water. Add all the ingredients and boil until thick, being careful not to scorch or burn . Pour into hot jars. Seal at once. It can be used like a jelly or jam on toast or on biscuits. Note: one lemon and ground ginger may be used instead of orange and nutmeg.
