2 tablespoons bacon drippings
4 cups shredded red cabbage
2 cups cubed apple
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup vinegar
1/4 cup water
1 1/4 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon caraway seed
Heat drippings in a skillet. Add remaining ingredients and a dash of pepper. Cover tightly and cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, for 15 to 30 minutes depending on how crisp you like your cabbage. Makes 4 to 5 servings.
