Ingredients
Mix thoroughly:
1/2 cup soft shortening
1/2 cup butter
1 egg
1 - 1/2 cups sifted white confectioners' sugar
1 - 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Sift together:
2 - 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp. salt
Directions
Stir sifted ingredients into the mixture. Divide dough into two equal parts; to one add red food coloring. Take a teaspoon of each and roll each on a board until about 4 inched long. Lay each side by side and press together, then twist and bend top like a candy cane. Put on ungreased pan and bake 9 minutes at 375 degrees.
