Harvest Chowder

3 cups peeled and cubed sweet potatoes
1/2 cup sliced onion
14 1/2 ounces chicken broth
12 ounces Pet Light Evaporated Skimmed Milk
1 tablespoon flour
1 teaspoon basil
1 teaspoon minced garlic
10 ounces frozen whole kernel corn
1 medium green pepper, cut into strips
1/2 cup walnuts, chopped and toasted
in a 3-quart saucepan combine sweet potatoes, onion and broth. Bring to a boil. Cover, reduce heat and simmer 10 minutes. Combine 1/4 cup milk with flour until smooth. Stir into broth along with remaining milk, spices, vegetables and walnuts. cook over low heat, stirring frequently, until slightly thickened. Do not boil. Makes 4 to 6 servings.
