Mama's Creamed Corn

10 cobs of corn (We like Silver King.)
1 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup parmesan cheese
2T. flour
2 T. butter
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. white pepper (You can use black pepper, but mama didn't like black specks in this recipe.)
2 T. sugar
Scrape corn cobs down and put in a large pot with heavy cream, butter, salt, white pepper. and sugar. In a small bowl, blend the milk and flour. Stir the two mixtures together and cook over medium heat until thickened, stirring often. Remove from heat and stir in parmesan cheese.

My mother was raised on a farm in Clay County and learned to cook from her mother. These two women were the best cooks I ever knew. They were doing farm to table before that was a trend. This recipe was taken by both women to church socials, dinners on the grounds, reunions, barn dances, etc. I believe it was responsible for several of mama's marriage proposals.
