DeSoto State Park’s Annual Independence Day Events

This annual event is fun for both children and adults! Celebrate Independence Day and enjoy good ol' fashioned family fun at DeSoto State Park. Flag-making contest and annual ice cream social are free.

Independence Day Flag-Making Contest: Make your own homemade flag to be judged in this fun contest. All ages are welcome to participate. Materials and flag-making rules will be available at the campground pavilion in the Improved Campground starting Thursday, July 2 if needed (flags are made on white foam boards; participants use natural materials). Flags can be turned in at the Nature Center any day that week but MUST be turned in no later than 9 a.m. July 4 to be judged.

Winners will be announced on DeSoto’s Facebook page on July 5 (winners will be contacted). Open to everyone; free to participate and open to all ages.

Splish and Splash Pool Party - Join the fun at our 13th Annual Splish & Splash Pool Party from 6:30 to 9 p.m. July 3. Includes ice cream and door prizes! $1 per person admission fee. Friday,

Ice Cream Social starts at 4 p.m. July 4 at the Campground Pavilion in DeSoto's Improved Campground. Flag-making contest winners will be announced at the Ice Cream Social. You are welcome to bring your own favorite homemade ice cream recipe or other desserts to share with your fellow guests. Bring your own comfortable camp chair as seating is limited. Free to participate, and open to everyone! Campground gate will be open.
