Storybook Farm, a non-profit group in Opelika, Alabama, aims to give childhoods back to children who are facing mental, emotional, social, and physical difficulties. Offering hope and healing, our mission is centered on the human-animal bond and exploration in nature. With six areas of programming, we now have the capacity to serve over 200 children each week. The best part is, families never pay a penny to participate.
The Kentucky Derby Day Event is our largest fundraising event of the year and funds the day-to-day operations of the Farm. This event has created avenues for financial participation for individuals, foundations, corporations, and small businesses raising over 1.2 million dollars through this event since 2008. This is the 13th Annual Kentucky Derby Day Event and has been named a Top Twenty Event by the Southeast Tourism Society. Additionally, this is the largest Kentucky Derby Event in the state of Alabama and features Auburn and Opelika's favorite cuisine, mint juleps, fancy hats, dashing suits, a live and silent auction, as well as ongoing coverage, live from Churchill Downs.
Attending this event is not only a ticket to the "most exciting two minutes in sports," but it also significantly impacts the lives of vulnerable children right here in the state of Alabama. Learn more at www.hopeonhorseback.org
