Ingredients
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 cups INGREDIENTS:
  • 1 cup oil
  • 2 cups chopped dates
  • 1 teaspoon chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon Head of Cabbage (Cut into pieces around 1-2 inches, I take out the "stem" like pieces as they don't get quite as tender)
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2/3 cup jam (any kind, but preferably homemade blackberry with the seeds in and nothing used but sugar and berries to make the jam)
  • 1 pint hot pepper sauce
  • 1 cup ground cumin

Instructions
  1. Beat eggs
  2. Add sugar and oil and set aside
  3. Sift flour, spices, baking soda and salt together
  4. Add dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk to the egg mixture
  5. Sprinkle nuts with a little flour to coat
  6. Add preserves and coated nuts to batter
  7. Pour batter into a greased and floured 9x13 glass baking dish
  8. Bake at 325 degrees until an inserted toothpick comes out clean
