
Troy--Pioneer Days at the Pioneer Museum of Alabama, 248 U.S. Highway 231 North. The annual event features two days of living history with skilled artisans and craftsmen in period clothing demonstrating traditional folk arts including woodworking, rope making, blacksmithing, spinning, weaving, candle dipping, quill making, Dutch oven cooking at the chuck wagon and inside the Demonstration Cabin, and more. There will be traditional music, mountain dulcimer playing, a School Marm in the 1920 one-room McNear Schoolhouse, a circuit riding preacher in the log chapel, and the Adams' General Storekeeper. Native American encampments will feature Native American Fry Bread Cooking, twining, and more. Military encampments will feature 1812 militia and Civil War Union soldiers' weaponry demonstrations, and more. Admission is $12 with children 5 and under and museum members free. The event starts at 10 a.m. and ends at 4 p.m. each day. The museum's main building which is home to over 20,000 artifacts will be open until 5 p.m. each day. Happy Shack food truck will be on the grounds for lunch and treats that can be enjoyed in the shaded picnic area. Come join us for a fun educational day.
